An online membership so you can find fairness in household chores

Go from stuck and resentful to
motivated and hopeful when
tackling how to share household chores

Get access to

everything you need to know to share household chores fairly

Therapy costs anywhere from $120 - $200 a session to learn these skills…and can take months to cover it all.

I wanted to create a resource that was affordable at $27/month

Does this sound familiar?

  • You asked them to do the laundry, they said “yes” but it just sat for days undone

  • You pointed out a chore isn’t getting done but they got defensive and acted like you’re asking too much

  • You tried to get them to go to couples counseling but they won’t go, or they said they will but then don’t do anything about it

  • They said “just tell me what to do” as though you are the parent in the house and not an equal partner

  • You decided it’s easier to just do it yourself than to make a big deal about it

  • You ended up feeling unseen, taken advantage of and resentful because you are doing it all

But, it doesn’t have to be this way…

Hey folks, my name’s Sarah

I had to struggle alone to find fairness at home. You don’t have to.

My breaking point was the trash. It was my husband’s chore. Yet it filled up, and week after week my husband didn’t take it out even though he said he would. I would give in, empty it, make some snarky comments, and we’d start again.

Finally I had had enough. I decided I would not empty it no matter what. It filled. It overflowed. I moved it to the garage and out of the kitchen. It continued to overflow. Trash covered the floor of the garage. Then, it happened: I thought about the dreaded “divorce” word for the first time.

I worked in therapy for years to find my way out of the mess, and we did it. We found teamwork at home that is supportive and connecting. Now, it’s my chance to help you!

Therapy isn’t an option for everyone.

I’ve taken the key points I work on with most clients around household labor and made bite size pieces all in one membership.

(This isn’t therapy. But if you want skills and guidance, it might be better.)

HERE’S WHAT’S INCLUDED:

  • Guidance: Q&A where members can submit questions, and I respond via audio message

  • Practice: Action items that are bite-size and doable

  • Skills: Learn to set boundaries, manage feelings, and communicate better

  • Regular but Manageable: Each week get an email that focuses on a topic that will help you grow. You don’t need more hanging over your head, so each email is intended to be manageable but actionable.

What happens each month?

Each month we cover a new topic/skill that’s VITAL to being an effective team, from boundaries to good communication to managing big feelings. I got ya.

Over my years working to help women make changes, I’ve identified several areas that help folks to start to make important changes at home. While this membership is aimed at folks who were raised as women, my hope is to make content anyone can benefit from.

We will cover:

  • Boundaries - what they are (and aren’t!), how to set them so they work, and how to keep them

  • Big Feelings - how to manage your own big feelings and others’

  • Shame and Defensiveness - what to do and say when your partner responds with defensive words and behavior after you ask them to change

  • How We Get in Our Own Way - behaviors we may use as folx socialized as women that might be working AGAINST us and how to do it differently

  • Chore Conversations - how to have these conversations so they are effective, including how to assign chores, handle disagreements and more

Week 1: Short Private Podcast

Each month we will focus on a new skill to help you learn how to set boundaries, communicate effectively, and manage big feelings. Week 1 begins with a private audio podcast available only to members. Each episode (15 - 30 minutes long) is written to help you understand problem areas and solutions; listen to it alone, or with your partner!

Week 2: Practice Assignment

At the start of week 2 you’ll get a short action-item to practice for the week. This isn’t “homework” like from school. You will be given directions and help practicing a new skill that’s helpful and relevant. And… won’t consume too much of your time.

Week 3: Reflection for Growth

Doing things is great, but it’s the reflection that leads to lasting change. That’s why therapy is so effective: it’s a place to put your experience into words and really think and feel how it went. You’ll receive 2-3 short prompts that should take you no longer than 20 minutes to complete.

Week 4: Q&A with Dr. Sarah G

You’ll have access to a form where you can ask me questions, and get answers. Week 4 I’ll select questions at random, and respond to them via private podcast that you can listen to as you have time. Or, just scan the transcript!

Bonus content

You will have access to past month’s content, as well as other private podcasts and offerings that I share with the membership community periodically.

FAQs

  • This membership is aimed at those socialized as womxn in straight relationships; that said, anyone who wants to work on finding more equity at home when it comes to mental load, chores, and invisible labor will find benefit. The skills we explore will appeal to all people, and I encourage couples to both participate. The content we cover will be especially helpful to men in understanding their female partner’s experience

  • The membership is hosted through “substack” which is both a website and a newsletter. (You can see the free version here.) Substack also allows me to share private podcast episodes or video, so you’ll get information in different forms.

When I post information here for the membership, you’ll also get an email update. That way you don’t have to check the website or remember when new content will be added.

  • You can start and stop your membership as you like, all throug. th substack app.

  • I have been studying and researching sexism and misogyny and how it shows up in household labor for years. It’s a passion area of mine. That said, most of my experience is working with straight couples or couples where one person was socialized as a woman and the other as a man.

As a queer wht woman married to a man, and positioned in the upper middle class, I am aware that my content assumes many types of privledge, including financial privledge, and is biased based on my lived experience.

While my goal is to use language welcoming of many different people (including people of color, and trans and poly folx) I recogize that I will not always succeed, and I will do my best to remain open and non-defensive to any feedback.

Ultimately, I specialize in working with those socialized as womxn who are in a relationships with a partner socialized as a men. That said, my hope is to create a welcoming space to whoever may be interested.
